Tax law partner. He worked for more than a decade in one of the most prestigious law firms in Mexico, Barrera, Siqueiros y Torres Landa (today Hogan Lovells), in charge of the tax litigation department, handling tax audit proceedings and consulting. He was also in charge of coordinating the foreign trade department. His most relevant cases include Constitutional litigation in tax matters; audit proceedings concerning payments abroad; audit proceedings and litigation in Transfer Pricing matters; litigation and consulting in the industries of food, pharmaceutical, energy, oil & gas, confectionery, technology, insurance, international transportation and logistics in international transportation, self-financing companies, real estate companies, shipping and mining companies, among others. He has advised several companies in matters of Administrative Proceedings in Customs issues, sub-valuation of prices, contraband and triangulation of goods and verification of origin. He has litigated both in administrative courts as well as in the Federal Judicial Branch, including the Mexican Supreme Court of Justice.
He has also advised companies in structuring their businesses and with their tax planning in transnational transactions, including the use of SIBRAS and entrepreneurial and non-entrepreneurial trusts.
He has participated in the structuring of transactions in the sale of real estate, purchase of assets and hotels, as well as in estate planning both in Mexico and abroad. In energy matters, he actively participate in the migration process of CIEPS contracts, as well as in the analysis of tax issues derived from such process.
He is recognized since 2014 by the international publication “International Tax Review” as one of the leading tax lawyers in Mexico in tax litigation matters. He has been an associate professor in Tax Law in the Escuela Libre de Derecho and in the Universidad Panamericana. He has been invited as a speaker in seminars organized by the LXII Legislature of the Chamber of Deputies with regards to the tax reform and in the Banking and Business School (Escuela Bancaria y Comercial).
